Many of these you will notice are housed within rain-boxes, this is due to the moisture that attacked the old entrance panels from the wall cavity that is damp and wet and causes corrosion of part and cables. Over the years it has been found best to have fully enclosed. Many still do not enclose simply to save money, but not so save the system.
If the cavity is closed or in an area suitable we then install flush often but each building and environment is different. Or if wanting a cheaper system and not wanting the right system as too expensive or not within the budget we can still install flush, then try to limit the issues if possible with other means. (not silicon as this causes more problems than tries to solve)
